The Accommodation
The Old School House is located between the villages of Kingsand and Cawsand on the South West Coastal Path only 30 minutes from Plymouth.
The age of the original property remains uncertain, but it is at least 200 years old and the building has served the villages as not only a school house, but also in former years as a tannery, a brewery and originally as a fish processing facility. The present building has been renovated to incorporate a sense of antiquity with modern facilities and commands possibly the best views of any property in the villages.
The historic fishing villages of Kingsand and Cawsand on the Rame Peninsular welcome visitors to this “forgotten corner of Cornwall” and The Old School House provides an ideal location from which to explore the area. Our visitors include holiday makers, cyclists, surfers, walkers, sailors, kayakers, fishermen, golfers, ornithologists and those just wanting to get away for a few days from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
There are three beaches within easy reach of the house where children can safely explore the sand, the rock pools and the sea.
The accommodation at the Old School House comprises of three ensuite bedrooms with flat screen TVs, hairdryers and tea and coffee making facilities. There is one small twin bedded room which is located at the back of the house without a sea view. The master bedroom is a large room with a four poster bed and a balcony where breakfast can be enjoyed overlooking the sea. The third bedroom comprises of a double bed and two singles (one stored beneath the other) and can accommodate two to four people. This room enjoys breathtaking views of the clock tower, the beaches, Picklecombe Fort, Plymouth, the Breakwater and Dartmoor in the distance.
Breakfast is served in the dining area, a room that also has stunning views across the bay. Visitors have a choice of fresh juice, cereals, fruit, yoghurt, croissants, toast as well as a full English breakfast. We do not allow anyone to leave the house hungry !
